ACTIVITY 2

Using graphs for communication. Analysing real scientific data from Mia Cobb.

What do the students think data is?

How can we collect data? What is data used for?
What would people/companies do with this data?

Where do you see graphs? What are their intentions?

How do people use to use graphs to sway an argument?
Students use various graphs taken from canine scientist Mia Cobb's research to discuss different ways that the data has been represented and trends that can be seen. They judge the correct way to present the numbers, and make appropriate graphs of their own using reasoning and comprehension.
